Chumbe Island
This privately owned island & marine reserve is a great example of eco friendly tourism. Lying 6km off the west coast of Zanzibar, Chumbe has a private beach and the coral reef has been described as one of the best of its kind in the world.
The accommodation comprises of special eco friendly two storey bungalows constructed entirely from natural products. Each bungalow has an ingenious water capture system. There are only seven bungalows, so crowds are not a problem it is particularly popular with honeymoon couples and those that want to just get away from it all.
