The Sunset Bay Hotel is situated approximately 1 hours drive from the airport, on Zanzibar’s northernmost tip, in the area known as Nungwi. Set on a slightly rocky outcrop, the hotel has beautifully laid out gardens and a fabulous white sand beach – you can even swim in the crystal clear sea at low tide here!

The accommodation consists of 40 rooms in double storey cottages, with 4 rooms to a cottage. Each room is decorated in local style and features a large double bed with mosquito net, air-conditioning, mini bar, satellite TV, telephone and safe. All rooms are en-suite and have a front veranda with sea view.

Both the restaurant and bar overlook the gardens and serve an international cuisine, with the focus being on local seafood, with slipper lobster being a speciality. Buffet meals and snacks such as pizza are also available should you feel peckish at all! A wide range of wines and spirits are stocked at the bar and the hotel often has local Masai dancers and artists providing the evening entertainment.

There is a small boutique on site for that important holiday shopping, whilst watersports fans are catered for with a PADI dive centre offering the chance to glimpse the wonders of the ocean on your doorstep. Snorkelling equipment is also available as is deep sea fishing and kayaking.
